Giancarlo Forte
Faculty Hospital of St Anne in Brno (FNUSA), Czech Republic

Giancarlo Forte coordinates the Center for Translational Medicine (CTM) at the International Clinical Research Center within St. Anne’s University Hospital (FNUSA-ICRC) Brno, in Czech Republic. His research group, the Mechanobiology of Disease Group (previously Cardiovascular System Mechanobiology), is mainly interested in the contribution of mechanically activated pathways in the pathologies of aging. His research contributed to unveil the role of YAP mechanosensitive protein in the assembly of focal adhesions  in tumor cells [1], and in the dynamics of cytoskeleton in pluripotent stem cells [2]. Lately, his research group identified a new role of Hippo effector in the ECM maladaptive remodeling in the failing heart [3]. Giancarlo is a long-term, active member of TERMIS.
